The Indiana Department of Education has announced record a high school graduation rate with 90.23% of the class of 2024 earning their diplomas, according to newly released data. This is an increase over the 88.98% in 2023. The previous record of 90.06%, was set back 2014.

Grains were spread out among different demographics. White students went up 1.16%. Black students rose 1.45%. Hispanic students 1.42%. Gains were also reported among ELL students, SPED students, and those receiving free or reduced lunch.

State officials have credited the collaborative efforts of educators, families, and communities for the positive trends in graduation rates and other key metrics, including improved literacy rates and reduced chronic absenteeism.

“Together, we must continue to keep our foot on the gas pedal in 2025, ensuring we keep improving our education system in Indiana and increasing opportunities for students,” said Indiana Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner

It is worth noting that this rate will differ depending on the metric used. The Department of Education also released the state’s federal graduation rate for 2024 which was 88.67%, up from 87.52% in 2023.
