When Donald Trump won the lastest election many speculated about his education plans. We are still speculating. But one thing we knew for sure is that Indiana will be involved.

As we mentioned on this very blog, Indiana often serves as conservative prototype for education. Not only does Indiana already have chater schools and school choice. Those things are largely apolitical here, at least relative to other places.

Trumps comments about Indiana came in the context of a question about closing the Department of Education:

” But we want to move education back to the states. If you look at the states, if you look at some of the individual countries, Norway is a very strong educational country, but many,” said Trump. “I think Iowa, and I think Indiana, and a lot of these states that are well-run states. We have a lot of them that are very well run. When they run their own educational program, I think it’s going to, I think they’ll be able to compete with anybody.”

Indiana will likely only grow as an education example nationwide. Incoming Indiana governor, Mike Braun, has ideas that mirror those of Trump’s.
