Indiana has opened the public comment period for a revised proposal to redesign high school diplomas.

The revised draft, which simplifies earlier versions based on public feedback, aims to increase flexibility in course requirements and offer pathways through a single diploma framework with readiness seals in enrollment, employment, or enlistment. These seals, developed with input from educational, business, and military stakeholders, outline skills and achievements that align with post-secondary plans, providing students with targeted credentials and preparation for success.

Stakeholders are invited to share feedback online or at a public hearing on November 8.

The proposed model, which will take effect for all students by 2029, includes options for schools to adopt as early as 2025. Indiana will also retain an alternate diploma for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
