Purdue University President Dr. Mung Chiang and Indiana University President Dr. Pamela Whitten signed an agreement at IUPUI (Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis) on July 14, officially separating the campuses to allow each university to independently operate and expand its offerings.

IUPUI’s dissolution date is June 30, 2024. IU Indianapolis launches on July 1, 2024. When it does, Latha Ramchand will be the university’s first chancellor.

The Indianapolis campus currently has over 20,000 students across its 400 various program offerings.

Ramchand previously served as an executive vice chancellor and provost at the University of Missouri.
