Governor Eric Holcomb has proposed a $280 million increase in the K-12 budget over the next two years. $70 million in 2018 and $210 million in 2019. This amounts to around a 3 percent increase for K-12 education overall. 

This is a relatively small increase compared to the last time a budget was adopted. Mike Pence proposed $400 million in new funds the last time he proposed a budget, and critics criticized him for cutting education funding himself. Critics claim that Holcomb’s increase doesn’t meet the criteria for “sustained funding”.
