By Andrew Pillow

Hello, my name is Andrew Pillow, and starting today, I will be a curator for INDY / ED.  My main role will be to serve as an aggregator of education stories that are relevant to Hoosiers.

I’m a Teach for America Alum, and currently still in the classroom as a Technology teacher at KIPP Indianapolis College Prep.

In full transparency, I was not a great student through middle or high school. I could have easily fallen through the cracks like so many black and brown youth do. The fact that I didn’t is a testament to my mother, a district employee, who knew how to play the game. I took this for granted until I looked back on my educational experience in college.

Having a benefactor who can navigate the educational landscape shouldn’t be one of the primary predictors of academic success or failure. Unfortunately, it is, and that is what brings me to this work in my classroom and hopefully here at this blog.

At INDY/ ED, we are always looking for relevant posts and stories. If you know of any, please feel free to give us a tip on Twitter @IndyKidsWinning.

Thank you and I look forward to serving the Greater Indianapolis educational community.
