Dr. Terrance Anfield
Board President
Dr. Terrance Anfield hails from Stockton, California. He has earned several degrees: a bachelor of science in psychology with a biology minor from Bethune-Cookman University, a masters of science in psychology from the University of Phoenix, and a doctorate in health and healthcare administration from Virginia University of Lynchburg. He also possesses a P-5/ESOL certification.
His path eventually took him to Atlanta, Georgia, where he joined the Department of Behavioral Health as a Community Support Specialist. He then transitioned into the role of a preschool teacher in Fulton County. Terrance’s teaching career evolved again as he took on the role of a kindergarten teacher at a Fulton County charter school, eventually becoming the physical education department chair and coordinator. He also played a pivotal role in assisting the SST/RTI coordinator in providing student services. Terrance continued to teach kindergarten at a state charter school in Georgia, concurrently serving as a lead curriculum coordinator in the Cobb County area, specializing in state licensure reviews.
Dr. Anfield’s dedication to education and advocacy is exemplified by his role as an Advocacy Fellow for the Association of American Educators Foundation, where he led advocacy training sessions, contributed opinion editorials, and acted on education policy research topics.
Furthermore, Dr. Anfield’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity in STEM education led to his acceptance into the NASA Astrophysics database of IDEA practitioners. In this role, he collaborates with other DEI experts to review and evaluate inclusion plans submitted to NASA’s Astrophysics Division, contributing to creating more inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible STEM environments.

Morganna Gordan
Board Member
Morganna Gordon is an international student from Jamaica pursuing a dual bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry with a minor in Spanish at Indiana University in Indianapolis (IUI). As a junior, she is deeply engaged in campus life, participating in undergraduate research focused on female cancer-related fields. Morganna also serves on the executive board of IUI’s Regatta Steering Committee and the Black Student Union. She is a mentor in the Diversity Enrichment and Achievement Program and other first-year experience programs on campus. Additionally, Morganna has been a resident assistant in the Division of Housing and Residence Life for the past two years.
Morganna aims to become a cancer researcher with the goal of finding a cure for cancer and addressing health disparities for minoritized populations. She is a determined individual committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment where everyone feels they belong. Morganna believes that through hard work and discipline, she can achieve her goals and use her talents to help others in need.

Chunia L. Felder
Board Member
Chunia L. Felder is an equitable resource advocate, dedicated to giving back to the community while encouraging and empowering the youth. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences with a minor in Sociology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Jacksonville University, where she also participated as an NCAA Division I multi-sport athlete. Chunia was inducted into the International Honors Society of Psychology just before she completed her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a published author, a community leader, and a public speaker.
Chunia has over eight years of experience as a mental health professional, specializing in industrial and organizational psychology. She considers herself a life-long learner and a solution-focused leader in the community. Chunia currently fulfills an appointment by the Indianapolis City-County Council to serve on the Marion County Community Corrections Advisory Board, where she has been the Mental Health Liaison for the past two years. She was selected by The City of Indianapolis Office of Public Health and Safety to partner with VOICES Corp. and WISH-TV to spearhead the Real Talk Youth Media Initiative, where she facilitates discussions as the Mental Health Consultant. Chunia holds several executive committee positions throughout Marion County and Lawrence Township. She is an alumnus of IndyHub’s 1828 Leadership Project, RISE Indy’s Circle City Leaders Fellowship, amongst several other professional development affiliations. Chunia has recently been nominated as a finalist for the Junior Achievement of Central Indiana’s 2024 Best and Brightest awards in the Health and Life Sciences category, out of 100 young
professionals in Indiana.
Chunia enjoys giving back to the community and collaborating with other community
change-makers to develop and advocate for underrepresented populations. She enjoys
hiking, biking, traveling, and spending time with her family and dog, Om. She stands poised to bring her passion for mental health, commitment to equitable access to resources, and experience offering a vision of progress and inclusion for all Indiana residents.

Darius Lewis
Board Member
Darius Lewis is a senior at Indiana University Indianapolis (IUI). He is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education and English Studies. He is an undergraduate student researcher, and his research titled: Carter G Woodson, A Visionary Creating a Legacy for Black Children: A Duo Ethnographic Conversation explores the historical context of Carter G. Woodson and how he played a massive role in the education system. Darius is a leader amongst his peers and goes above and beyond in any task that is handed his way. Additionally, he is a residential assistant (RA), a student ambassador, and a tutor/mentor.
In his various roles, Darius strives to connect to people and learn from their experiences. Any opportunity he is given to showcase what he is passionate about or speak in front of large crowds, he is always up for the challenge. After graduation, he plans to start a successful learning center or make a substantial impact on the education system to bring change in educational institutions because students are the future. In every aspect of life, Darius is a leader who generates positivity wherever he goes.

Xavier R. Shakes
Board Member
Xavier R. Shakes is from Indianapolis and working towards his masters degree in mental health counseling at the University of Indianapolis. He finds using his experience in the field of applied behavioral analysis as a registered behavioral therapist where he works with children on the Autism spectrum to develop social skills as one of the most rewarding experiences of his life.
Xavier also found joy in his work as one of four STEM RBLC resident assistants at IUPUI, creating a sense of community for 33 students before graduating, in 2023, with his bachelors in psychology.
Xavier’s ulimate goal is to run his own private practice on the far eastside of Indianapolis. While he looks forward to working with a wide range of clients, he would like to specialize in supporting neurodivergent clients in adapting to spaces such as classrooms, where their needs are not always met.
Through his writing he hopes to share insight, new ideas, and personal experiences that may act as a catalyst in spaces where change is needed.
